Since its inception, Tanki Online has been flash based game and the game was used to showcase Alternativa's Flash 3D engine for the web, which was considered cutting-edge technology at the time.
Early in development, the gameplay was much more strict and simplistic, and was limited only to a few turrets and hulls, being heavily biased towards a certain combination. Later on, more new weapons and hulls were introduced into a "second tier" of equipment, which were much stronger and were available for a higher price. Promises of a "Tanki Online 2.0" were made heavily in 2010-11, although the project was later scrapped in favor of a slower addition of new features into the first version.

In mid-2012, the game was drastically improved in the graphical sense, with the "update 1.100.0" bringing deeper and brighter graphics to initiate a friendlier and more realistic atmosphere. Control Points were also introduced. Over the next few months, testing of the "version 114" was complete, and all equipment in the garage were rebalanced so that all equal modifications were similar in strength. A new paint was also added. This rebalance remains in effect to the present, although tweaking to exact specifications of equipment is still being done.

But as of today, Tanki Online developers have decided to switch from flash to a new engine “Unity”, which is growing rapidly, its creators have a clear strategy of development and follow it. The url related to this news is given below:

This was about the switch from one engine to another. Tanki Online developers are also working on the HUD i.e. Heads Up Display. Please watch the video for more information:

There are various ways by which crystals can be added to one particular player’s account. The methods are as explained below:

1. The first way is the player’s can get extra crystals in the form of daily bonus when they login to Tanki Online daily after a time gap of 24 hours. This format is known to all the players.

2. The second way being by actually buying it from the developers by paying actual money to them. Here the players make actual payment by using either, online banking or credit card payment or using debit card payment.

3. The last method is by taking part in various battles and gaining the highest rank at the end of the game. At the end of the game all the players are ranked in a ranking order. The player who has the highest rank gets maximum number of crystals. These crystals are then added to the player’s account before a new game is started.

Various offenders can be reported by the players to the administrators and then these administrators take care of the offenders as per the situation. These administrators help the Tanki Online developers to run the game successfully over a wine area network which is spread worldwide.

The developers of this game keep on conducting various events and competition for the players where all players can take participate in the events and have a chance to win various assured prizes and gifts.

Some of the well known events and contest that take place at Tanki Online are:

1. Battle of Rusty Barrels

2. Miss Tanki Online

3. Mister Tanki Online

In the first post regarding Tanki Online, I informed you about the game, the various game modes available and a bit about the developers of the game i.e. AlternativaPlatform. Now I’ll tell you about the various maps, hulls and weapons that are available in the game and also the various supplies available for your tank.

Battles take place across a variety of "maps", most of which are user-created. Each map is distinct and creates a different style of game play. Different maps also favour different weapons e.g. the smaller maps favouring the close-range weapons, and vice versa. Most maps come in both a "summer" and a "winter" mode, each mode using different buildings and landscapes. One map previously had a "space" mode, which featured vastly reduced gravity in the entirety of the map, but was removed due to hackers exploiting the low gravity to use flying cheats without the server detecting the cheating. In addition to selecting the map and mode, battles, which are user-created, have another setting called "PRO." This setting lets you turn on and off such settings as "friendly-fire" and "auto-balance".

Hull or chassis consists of an internal framework which supports the weapons that are at the top of the hull. In Tanki Online, a total of 7 hulls are available in the garage which can be combined with various weapons which are also available in the garage. Then as per the map (close range or long range) and the situation, a player can opt to combine any combination of the available hulls and weapons to suit his game play in that particular map or rules of the maps. Weapons are of two types, long range and short range. These can be used depending upon the type of map used or the combination with various hulls available in the garage. These tanks have a default paint and can be coated with various paints which give protection to the tanks from enemy tanks to some extent. each paint has its own feature and protects from one or more weapon.

Except for the hulls, weapons and paints, players who login daily to Tanki Online get bonus supplies or crystals or some other bonuses for returning back. All the hulls, chassis and paints can be brought with the help of crystals that are available in a player's account. There are various methods to increase crystals in one player's account. These methods are described in the next post of the blog.

What if you are in the middle of a battle and also the commander of a tank...???
You have to battle your way on your own to victory. And the enemy tanks are trying their best to defeat you. Experience it all by commanding your tank to accomplish the set goals and be victorious. This is what it feels/takes to play the most massively multiplier online game Tanki Online.

Tanki Online is a free massively multiplayer online game based on Adobe Flash technology that was created in mid-2008 by AlternativaPlatform. It is a browser-based game in the third-person shooter genre.

Tanki Online was created in mid-2008 by AlternativaPlatform, located in Perm, Russia. The game was used to showcase Alternativa's Flash 3D engine for the web, which was considered cutting-edge technology at the time.

Early in development, the gameplay was much more strict and simplistic, and was limited only to a few turrets and hulls, being heavily biased towards a certain combination. Later on, more new weapons and hulls were introduced into a "second tier" of equipment, which were much stronger and were available for a higher price.

At the beginning of 2009, the game received prestigious Russian КRI Awards 2009 in nominations "Best game without a publisher" and "Best technology". Another award won was Russian Flash Awards 2009 in the category: "Technical achievement".

Gameplay is organised into matches called battles, in which players each command their tank to accomplish a set goal. The game features four game modes:

1. Death match: A widely used game play mode. The goal of a death match game is to kill (or "frag", from the military term) as many other players as possible until a certain condition or limit is reached, commonly being a frag limit or time limit. Once one of these conditions is met, the match is over and the winner is the player that accumulated the greatest number of frags.

2. Team death match: The goal of a team death match is to frag as many opponent team players as possible until a certain condition or limit is reached, commonly being a frag limit or time limit. Once one of these conditions is met, the match is over and the winner is the team that accumulated the greatest number of frags.

3. Capture the flag: The objective is to capture the other team's flag, located at the team's "base," and bring it safely back to their own base. Enemy tanks can be "destroyed" by players in their home or enemy territory; these player’s tanks are then, members of the opposite team, sent back to their own territory. The team which captures the maximum number of enemy flags wins

4. Control points: This is the scenario/situation where teams have to control various control points situated across the maps and the team with maximum points wins.

Over the period of time, Tanki Online has been becoming the most increasingly played online based game. This is evident from the fact that  as of February 2014, it has 41,000,000+ registered players.
