What if you are in the middle of a battle and also the commander of a tank...???
You have to battle your way on your own to victory. And the enemy tanks are trying their best to defeat you. Experience it all by commanding your tank to accomplish the set goals and be victorious. This is what it feels/takes to play the most massively multiplier online game Tanki Online.

Tanki Online is a free massively multiplayer online game based on Adobe Flash technology that was created in mid-2008 by AlternativaPlatform. It is a browser-based game in the third-person shooter genre.

Tanki Online was created in mid-2008 by AlternativaPlatform, located in Perm, Russia. The game was used to showcase Alternativa's Flash 3D engine for the web, which was considered cutting-edge technology at the time.

Early in development, the gameplay was much more strict and simplistic, and was limited only to a few turrets and hulls, being heavily biased towards a certain combination. Later on, more new weapons and hulls were introduced into a "second tier" of equipment, which were much stronger and were available for a higher price.

At the beginning of 2009, the game received prestigious Russian КRI Awards 2009 in nominations "Best game without a publisher" and "Best technology". Another award won was Russian Flash Awards 2009 in the category: "Technical achievement".

Gameplay is organised into matches called battles, in which players each command their tank to accomplish a set goal. The game features four game modes:

1. Death match: A widely used game play mode. The goal of a death match game is to kill (or "frag", from the military term) as many other players as possible until a certain condition or limit is reached, commonly being a frag limit or time limit. Once one of these conditions is met, the match is over and the winner is the player that accumulated the greatest number of frags.

2. Team death match: The goal of a team death match is to frag as many opponent team players as possible until a certain condition or limit is reached, commonly being a frag limit or time limit. Once one of these conditions is met, the match is over and the winner is the team that accumulated the greatest number of frags.

3. Capture the flag: The objective is to capture the other team's flag, located at the team's "base," and bring it safely back to their own base. Enemy tanks can be "destroyed" by players in their home or enemy territory; these player’s tanks are then, members of the opposite team, sent back to their own territory. The team which captures the maximum number of enemy flags wins

4. Control points: This is the scenario/situation where teams have to control various control points situated across the maps and the team with maximum points wins.

Over the period of time, Tanki Online has been becoming the most increasingly played online based game. This is evident from the fact that  as of February 2014, it has 41,000,000+ registered players.
